Shore evaluation: young people’s survey

Shore is a new website for teenagers concerned about their own or someone else’s sexual thoughts and behaviour. The site was launched in September 2023 by the Lucy Faithfull Foundation (LFF).

Shore gives clear and reliable information about sex and relationships and offers confidential and anonymous support from our experienced advisors through the chat and email service.

Thank you for your interest in supporting with our evaluation!

We are completing an evaluation of Shore to understand how it is being used and explore young people and professionals’ responses to the site. We will use what we learn to continue to make improvements to the site, to make sure it is meeting young people’s needs. We will also publish our findings so other people and organisations can see what we have learnt.

Please be advised you must be between the ages of 13-21 to participate in this study. If you are under 16 we will require the consent of a parent or carer for you to take part.

The survey

This survey is designed to help us evaluate the Shore website. It asks questions about your experience using the website, what you liked about it and anything you would like to change or you think is missing. We are determined to build a website that is as helpful as it can be for young people and we want to hear your views.

By completing the survey, you are volunteering to be part of our evaluation. Participation is completely voluntary and nothing negative will happen if you choose not to participate.

The survey is completely anonymous and confidential. This means that we will not ask for your name during this survey and we will not collect any identifiable information about you. We will ask some questions about you (such as your age, ethnicity and the general area where you live). We ask these questions to help us understand the demographic of the people using our site and completing the survey – but you do not have to answer them if you don’t want to. The answers cannot be used to identify you.

Please remember you have the right to stop answering the questions at any time. If you complete and submit the survey, we will not be able to remove your answers from the study because they are submitted anonymously. We will store all the information you share with us securely.

If you would like to find out more about how we collect and store your information please take a look at our Privacy Policy

What happens after I complete the survey?

What we learn from the evaluation will help us and others make really good services for young people. We will publish the information you share with us (for example, in our evaluation report, in peer-reviewed journals or in our annual report) and we may use quotes you have said to promote our work, but you will not be able to be identified.

Remember that you don’t have to answer any questions you don’t want to, and you may stop at any time. Please answer the questions as carefully and honestly as you can. It is not a test and there are no right or wrong answers – we want to hear what you think.

If you have any questions you can email Rachel Haynes, senior practitioner at the Lucy Faithfull Foundation on rhaynes@lucyfaithfull.org.uk

If you have questions but you want to stay anonymous (you don’t want us to know your name) you can email our anonymous email service.

Professionals

At the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, we have created Shore, a website for young people who are worried about their own or someone else’s sexual thoughts, feelings, or behaviour. The site aims to prevent harmful sexual behaviours amongst young people and offer a safe place where young people can get clear and factual information and advice.

We are using surveys to gather feedback from professionals, parents and young people. The feedback will help us to continue to develop and make improvements to the site.

At the beginning of the survey, we will ask some demographic questions. You are completing this survey anonymously and we will not ask for any information that will identify you.

If you have any questions about this survey or the website, please contact Rachel Haynes.

Thank you for your help, your time and effort is appreciated.
